1940年的英國戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)不斷，每天都有敵軍的空襲轟炸，但比滿目瘡痍倫敦更殘破的是人民絕望的心，面對(duì)未知的生命無常，電影成了唯一的心靈慰藉。資訊局電影部想要提升國家士氣和民心，開始拍攝政治宣傳電影，為了增加電影中的女性觀點(diǎn)，原本從事廣告文案的凱瑟琳（杰瑪·阿特登 飾）被邀請(qǐng)加入編劇小組，和主編巴克利（山姆·克拉弗林 飾）一起編寫歌頌英國人在敦刻爾克行動(dòng)中英勇事跡的劇本。大男人的巴克利遇上溫柔的凱瑟琳，挖苦彼此的對(duì)白、斗嘴不斷，但隨著兩人一起經(jīng)歷瘋狂趕戲和劇本，默契和愛苗都悄悄滋長。然而戰(zhàn)事持續(xù)惡化，電影拍攝也面臨困境，凱瑟琳還要面對(duì)自己已婚的事實(shí)??
